Has anyone looked into these ? It sounds like a good idea, and a nice winter project. Would it be worth it to install these on my 08 GTX's to extent the life of my IC unit ?

Stainer...?

If you install a strainer, so to make sure you are not picking up sand particles and distributing them into your intercooler, I would recommend you use a "see through" type with a fine mesh basket. Do not use any paper type or anything that will create to much resistance. Because a loss of flow to the intercooler is more damaging than one that is putting in a few deposits (which should be easily flushed out after every ride).

Yep, I found one made for SeaDoo that has a glass bowl and a mesh screen.. I thought I would buy one and see how the install goes... If it looks ok im going to buy one for the other ski..

This was the ad for it , and it made it sound like a good idea.

Thanks for putting enough info in your description that I was able to google some sites that had information on this unit.

Since the cooling water supply for the intercooler system, is the raw water used in the exhaust injection of the open loop, I think it might be a great idea to give this a try.

I looked at one marine distributer that seemed to have this a bit less than your quote and with a nylon basket. I think I would elect a nylon or plastic over a stainless filter basket. Brass would probably be the only metal that I'd use in a marine application for brackish or salt waters. It inhibits marine growth from trying to set up residence inside.

Let us know how you come out with it. Give us a difficult level on it and once installed, a performance update.

i just got two inline filters for my sportster 1800 as im planning on taking it to panama city beach later this week. i found these at home depot for 11$ and they look the same as the 44$ ones yall are talking about. they were super easy to install taking all of about 5 mins for both i just cut the hose off 3" from the head pushed the filter on then held the in line to the in of the filter and cut it and pushed it on tightened the clamps and good to go. the hose to 5/8" fittings interesting enough were 9$ each in the plumbing section and 3$ in the garden section. The filters are very well constructed with a stainless mesh fine enough to trap anything that could get stuck in the engine or exhaust but not too fine to block flow and the bowls are very easy to inspect and remove and clean. Also when you flush the engine you will effectively reverse flush the filters if your to lazy to rinse off the screens manually. anyway here is a link to the filter.
Cheers
