I have a 02 951 xp today i de winterised it and started it for the first time i opened the water separator and there was dirt on both sides of the filter

How bad is this ? Should i rebuild carbs again ? I rebuild them last year

If the dirt got past the filter it could plug the little filters in the carb and cause the engine to run lean and seize. The only way the dirt could be on both sides is if the plastic filter element was not seated up into the housing.

can i just change out the 2 filters and not bother with the rest of the gaskets ?, they are only 1 yr old

I know others have just cleaned the filters with success but I always replace the gaskets. It's your call.

My new water separator filter falls off its housing before i can screw in the cap
Is this normal ? Or the whole separator is defective

My opinion is absolutely not, I have seen a few people have fuel starvation issues adding another filter like you showed. There are some that use them, I think a Fram G4 but I personally don't recommend it.

What if i get a high flow filter ?
