if you can move it 1/4 inch to 3/8 of and inch, this to me is saying your missing a bumper, so, u need 2 bumpers, and a pto boot, also, i wouldnt buy them fancy clamps, just a good quality tie strap, same thing happened to me before, mine was squashed to like nothing, and i took on 1 ft or so of water, i put the firm boot on i sent u a link on early in this thread, from onlyseadoo, i like that company, i get my parts in like 2 days, on regular shipping

Removed driveshaft. Didn't see any rubber bumpers.

And, when I pulled the pump, the impeller was hanging on the driveshaft... It was that loose.

Should I get a new carbon seal and ring? They don't look damaged at all.

your bumpers was the problem, it lets the seal have too much slop and not seal, if your other boot seems cracked or something, i would change it, just so you dont have to go through it all again -- long as there is no deep grooves in carbon seal, it probably ok. i personally liked the firm style boot, was a little longer also, and made everything real tight -- no water leaks after 2 outings, 1 was 7 hrs in water, and second was 8 hrs
