So this guy in fort lauderdal florida said the 2004 2005 RXPs
had hollow valves and should be replaced
well after taking them out and weighing one Verses the
new one the new one is lighter Hummmm so i cut
the old one in half solid as can be, valves, gaskets,
a 400.00 + lesson :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Well, the valves weren't completely hollow anyway. They were sodium filled which is fairly common in the performance automotive industry so that right away leads me to believe that he doesn't really know what he is talking about. The sodium helps to cool the valve and acts as a heat exchanger or heat pipe. SeaDoo did make some sodium filled valves back in that time frame and had some issues with them but not really because of the valve itself, imo. If it ingests water or water collects on the valve, it can damage the valve and cause it to break. The 08 and newer valves are a higher grade steel and are lighter but much stronger, overkill really unless you're into racing.

SeaDoo didn't go to a better exhaust valve until late 2006. They came out with even a better valve in 2008. There is a part number stamped into the valve just above where the keepers go on the stem. If the number starts with a 72 it is a old style valve. If it starts with a 75 it is a new style valve.
They for sure had a problem with the old style valves. Maybe yours had already been replaced. Checking the numbers will tell you. Report back.......I'm curious.

ya it starts with 72524-tk the valves that came out looked like the kind that
would come out of a car but smaller
the new ones look like a manley swirl polished valve with the same part #

yes sire a much better looking valve
the new valve weigh is 585 grains the old one weighed 641
