Was looking at buing 98 Gtx limited for 800 obo. The seller says it starts but shuts off. Has a brand new battery. Says it might be the fuel lines. What do you guys think what's actually wrong with it? I made him an offer of 500$ the pwc is superclean. Great condition. Should I buy it or is it a project ski.

That's all the info I have. says it has a brand new battery. Starts but doesn't stay on for long. Seller says it might need new fuel lines. He can't figure it out. Selling as is no trailer. What's the main cause of this engine doing that. Carbs or blown piston from over heating.

The one I'm inquiring about looks just like that. Might even be cleaner. I might of low balled him. Never got a response back from the seller.

When they seize, usually, they seize, ..and are hard to start, have a deep thudding sound or just impossible to start.,,yours appears to be fuel delivery related. To help quicken your diagnosis, run your fuel line from your pickup directly to the carb.

Well guys the seller did finally get back to me. Went over there and checked it out. Needs starter idle is too high so it shuts off. Gas lines seemed to be ok. Might need a carb job haven't opened up yet. Got it for 500$. Going to pick up later with double trailer.. Hopefully I can get this thing going for Laughlin nv. By Thurs.

No thuds so far. Defently fuel related. Do you guys know anything about starter switch going out on this model becuase of starter problems. Thanks.

Well I got the new starter mailed in. I tried installing it having problems. Do you guys have any pointers on installing starter. Thanks

What problem are you having? This is a 951 correct? If so.... you gotta pull the exhaust and carbs. The bendix could be bad also. That really isn't fun but I got to everything with the engine in place.

Make sure you cleaned the housing bore, put some grease on the o-rings and you may have to tap it gently it with a dead blow hammer or something soft.
