I am looking into purchasing my first pwc and trying to be as knowledgeable about the product I am buying as possible. Found a few with some problems and am wondering if they are worth the money the seller is asking. I look foward to getting to know as many of you as possible. Thanks again.

Give us a clue as to what you are after. 2-stroke or 4-stroke, 2 or 3 seater, with or without Super Charger, ect ect ect.

Then let us know what you are looking at.

I am looking at my options but am leaning towards an RXT. I need enough horsepower to pull a tube, wake board so I am thinking supercharged 215 or higher and definitely a 3 seater.

I own an 09 RXT-X and LOVE the ski...

Here are a few things to know about the 4-tec skis.

The 04 to early 06 used hollow core sodium filled valves that fail. I would NOT buy a used ski with the sodium valves unless you can steal it as they will need replaced and or the PO can prove they were changed. They break and fall into the engine and serious damage occurs...

2004-2008 and SOME early 09 skis had the ceramic washers in the Super Charger (SC). If you purchase one of these skis, and the Previous Owner (PO) can not PROVE in writing that they have been changed, then rebuild the SC'r now, not later. The update kit replaces the ceramic washers with metal washer. The ceramic washers are engine killers...

I would ask the local Seadoo dealer the build date based on the HIN. No 09 is suppose to have the ceramic washers. But,,, we have seen a few sneak through. However, unless the Previous Owner (PO) can prove it was rebuilt in the last two years you will need to rebuild it anyways.

SO,,, if it were mine, I'd pull it off and send it into this site and rebuild it. This will eliminate the possabilty of having the Ceramic Washers..
