I was looking into installing a wakeboard rack on my 96 challenger. my wife says it would look stupid. any pics or thoughts? how heavy are they because i dont want to lose power due to weight issues

Just the rack or the whole tower? I am assuming you meant tower, as the rack would add very little weight.

The factory tower on my x20 could be taken off by one person if I didn't care about gouging the gel coat. It's just awkward to move around. It's very light though.

Of course, now it has a pair of kicker speakers on it!! So it may be a bit heavier. WOO WOO!!

Good luck!

Do a quick search for Tower and the model boat you have. Be sure you are not using the terms rack and tower as the same. There are plenty of folks that will share stories of purchasing and installing for most model boats.

The Rack is what you put on the tower to hold your boards. So no use in buying a rack until you find the tower you want. Although, there was one vendor I saw listed that would sell the whole kit, (tower, mounting hardware, racks and even tower speakers) Probably crap speakers though.

I love having speakers on the tower just for the redneck yachtclub!! I have mine tilted down a bit so we can fade most of the music to those and hear it outside the boat well.

Good luck,

I did see where Seadoo use to offer a plastic thing with tye downs for the trunk of an older boat like mine.Saw it on ebay a couple of weeks ago.Sombody was selling a bunch of old SD stuff.Wasn`t on an auction.Might have been a business in the ozarks.Thought about buying it myself.
