been kick'n the idea around, and just came across a "score" on ebay, so my question, is, and after bomb'n around the internet, IS...is there a wire/s I can tap into for it to work, or, from what i've read, take ground from meter to common shared ground on boat, and for power, run its own wire from battery to switch, then switch to meter, reason being, I guess the "draw" the meter will have if no switch. I'm I on right track?

I would say just hook it up to any wire that is hot when the key is on. The meter gets hooked up in parallel so it will still read an acurate voltage wherever it's hooked up as long as your ground is good.

thanks mark...yeah, believe the "purple" wire is a common hot lead.
