I played hooky from work yesterday and went to the lake. Right after I launched the ski, I got a vibration. I gunned it a couple of times in the no wake zone and the vibration stopped, and was O.K. for the rest of the day.

I thought that maybe it was something I picked up that was stuck in the impeller, but I'm not sure.

When I replaced the wear ring a couple of years ago, I should have also rebuilt the drive shaft, but I didn't.

My question is. Is this a symptom of the carbon seal going bad? If it is how long do I have before replacement? Acceleration and top end speed are normal. Maybe I'm making too much of this.

Just launched in some crap, seaweed maybe. All engine = no go. My advise is to shine a lite up both ends of the tunnel, see if it spit a chunck
of ring out ect. and pull on the tuned pipe in all directions to feel a broken motor mount. Good Luck!

Thanks Bill, I'll try that. I'll take the trailer down today pull it out and take a look.

I've greased it a couple of times this year, but not recently, I'll try that.

Thanks,

Lou

Yea! I grease my tunnel & impeller too. Don't want to suck any baby diapers off the bottom shallows!
Gotta not step at a ramp, Some people think ya wash babies there. Ha Ha Lotta rope down there too!

I just got back from the lake and the GTI is O.K. we rode it a lot today, because it was pretty rough out there, and the XP was trying to kill me again. I'll probably rebuild the drive shaft this winter, hope it makes it through the summer. Thanks for the help.

I went to the lake yesterday, took the XP down and brought the GTI home (gotta get a double trailer). Anyway the GTI had been in the water for over a week and was in need of a bath. I saw a piece of plastic bag hanging out to the intake grate, it was wrapped around the drive shaft. Mystery solved.

Lol you def need a double trailer. My skis like to stick together threw thick n thin. Thin right now since there both waiting on parts.
