Venturi Mounting Bolts Too Long?

I replaced plastic pump housing on 2004 and 2006 GTX Wake with new WSM aluminum housings. Now the M8 x 50 bolts (screws) that attach the venture to the impeller housing are too long. Looked at parts diagram for SC model with aluminum housing and shows M8 x 40 bolts. So, got some 40mm long bolts and still too long. Thinking of tapping holes in housing deeper, but a little nervous. Any suggestions? This is the same on two separate WSM housings (003-720 & 720K).

I'd probably stick a wire in the hole to measure, subtract some from that. Can you shim the bolt head with SS flat washers?

A porta-band or a 4" grinder with a cut off wheel.

curious...was there a wedge between the old pump and the nozzle?
