Used or New Speedster for first boat?

I'm considering a Speedster as my first boat. I love the new Speedster 150--but it's a lot of cash for someone who has never owned a boat before. Would anyone recommend going with a used/older Speedster instead? I'm wide-open to suggestions--but do used ones typically need a lot of maintenance and/or expensive repairs? If used would be a good idea--any particular models / years I might want to focus on would be great.

Any suggestions appreciated--thanks!

Is there any reason to not prefer a four-stroke over a two? Four stroke I thought was preferable in all cases (?) but if there are older two-stroke versions that I should consider based on value I wouldn't rule one out...

You can get some really good deals on used older ones. I just bought my first one a few weeks ago. I was kinda in the same boat as you, I didnt know which to buy. I did not wanna invest a lot on something that will be a learning experience. I didnt wanna tear up a new $40,000 boat. I decided on a 98 Speedster. I think it is a good solid starter purchase. They have the twin engines which are the 2 stroke motors that are one of the most reliable motors Sea Doo has made. I would suggest looking for a 98-99.

If your pockets are deap, a new boat is always nice!
For me isn't not a question, I have to go used. But so far, no regets on my purchse. Besides a dated interior, they're just as fun as a new boat. Spend some money on them to replace some things, and they're usually good to run

look'n at the 150 model..they're the 4-stroke, but taking in consideration that they're the same length as the older 2-stroke, and you mentioned about not spend'n alot, then you get the same speed, performance..etc, but a older boat...SO WHAT.
Like the previous poster said, get them, and if you somewhat mech. inclined, next to nuth'n, and fix them...in and on water for around 1500-2000 grand.
