Does anyone know if they ever made a trainer key for kids for the 99 models? If so, how can you tell the difference. Will one be a certain color? Thanks.

I dont believe yours has a learning key. I think they are only on the newer skis but I could be wrong. The learning key would be a different color though, probably green or white. You could probably limit the throttle, set it so they can only go half way or so.

Great question. I bought a 01 GTX-DI that had one..but I dont know if all years/models from then on had it or what.

You prob wouldnt be a good candidate b/c of shipping. If you have a good dealer that doesnt charge an arm and a leg to program a new key cheap its a better deal, but if you dont, are really far away from one, sending an MPEM to me is a good option.

As I recall, the learner keys started in the year 2000 right when the DI motor came out. The learner keys are white, the normal keys are yellow.

Any DESS key can be a "LEARNER" key. You are not programming the key.........you are programming the MPEM to accept the key and to use it as the "LEARNER" key. After that, when the MPEM sees that key, it will run the ski in "LEARNER MODE".

I'm pretty sure only fuel injected skis' have a "LEARNER" key function.

Hope this makes sense.
