Trailer safety question..

A friend of mine has a single 3 seater jet ski (It's a 90's yamaha triple 3 seater) on a double trailer.. Used to have two, but lost the other one in the divorce..

This trailer has been modified as both 3 seaters didn't fit between the fenders (I need to try and get a picture) the mounting cross braces for the bunks had a ~4" lift welded in place to raise the PWCs up so they cleared the fenders

In doing this, the front mount / bolt for securing the front of the jet ski was too short.. So they just used a motorcycle ratchet strap in the front and a cinch tight motorcycle ratchet strap in the back.. (IE so just a strap in front and behind, and no metal brace in front of the ski)

Anyhow, my friend wants me to load one of my jet skis onto this trailer (for better weight distribution) so we can take it up to the lake..

I'm a bit wary of not having a front brace, I'm all about safety and I don't feel that a rear strap will be able to handle the strain of a wreck (or a really hard stop/etc) I wouldn't want to be in front of a 500+ lb bowling ball if it comes free

What are your thoughts?

Put the back one on angled forward. Put a front one angled backward. Put an additional one on angled forward.

In all cases from trailer, through ski (bow eye or rear eyes) then back to trailer.

This will hold it centered and stable.

To clarify. All hook on toe trailer. Tie down straps pass through the ski eyes.

CJ, what do you mean by your first sentence? angled backward/forward thing?????

I believe he meant for the rear strap.. Have it fastened toward the front of the trailer, rather than straight down..

Coastie, I like that idea better than how it is currently fastened.. Have a second front strap.. to assist the single rear one, I see the concept behind that - and it would make me feel better about having my ski on it
