trading for a 96 xp question

I am looking at trading for what a gentleman says is a 96 seadoo 800 xp. The pics he sent look like a 94 xp(white hull green seat). He swears it is a 96 xp and that he will send me a pic of the title. I don't know anything about seadoo's just what I see in pics I have looked up. Was there a 96 seadoo xp that was not yellow. Trying to see if this is just a craigslist scammer. Thanks in advance for your help :thumbsup:

Have him send you a picture of the HIN. The title could be a typo..

the 96xp was yellow,the 95xp yellow top white bottom,the last 2 digits of the hin should be 96 for a 96.

HIN is great but they have been swapped before...

Also look at engine, 94 was 657, vertical cylinders.

The 96 will have a 787 very obvious due to cylinders at an angle and rave valves.

Also 95/96 XP will have removable trim tabs.

Thanks Gary for the engine info, that will give me my answer for sure. I was pretty excited about the 96 xp because I had heard they are fast. If it turns out to be a 94 is there any reason to stay away from those. My trade is a 4wheeler that is worth about 900.00. Thanks for your opinions.

Yeah it could be an spx, never really thought of that. Thanks strizz, I always did think that the 96 SPX was a pretty good lookin ski, as in, it had no purple lol

94 xp is a fun ski, only 80hp compared to 110 for the 96 xp.

I agree with Strizz and CR the colors on the 96SPX are a plus and the 717 (85ponies) is known to be a reliable power plant. The only downside (my opinion) is the more expensive electronics that debuted in 96 with the DESS which the 96XP will also have.

I am partial to the 96XP, like the high visibility yellow and like the power!

That is a 94 XP in your pic, 94's had purple to pinkish/red to purple fade decals and the 93's had purple to greenish to purple fade decals

that is a 94 XP, no mistaking it. should have the 567x making 80hp like Gary said.

i have the same motor in my 95 gtx, its a good solid motor but the 787 is a whole other world.
