I have been reading many of the threads on this subject but I'm still a little confused. If I am running on 1 engine due to breakdown, which lines must be closed off. I know the inlet line running from my jet pump to my tuned pipe has to be blocked, but what about the line running from my exhaust manifold to the "tail pipe"? Is it possible for water to back flow through that into the engine, or even the water outlet for that matter?

The only hose you need to pinch off is the "feed" line to the engine from the Jet pump as water is forced in the hose to cool the engine. If you pinch off that hose it stops all water into the engine.

If you going faster than 15 mph, the water is forced into the cooling lines in the jet pump and because there is no back pressure from the exhaust, due to the engine not running, it backs up and floods the engine.

That's why you need to pinch the water feed cooling line from he jet pump. That's the reason the engine and jet pump is always spinning when the engine is running. That way it can cool the engine.

Wow ! I'm learning every day here...I guess thats what happened to my boat,,filled the engine up with water. I was wondering where all the water came from. Now I know WHY the engine quit,, just gotta get fixxin' over the off season. Thanks Karl
