To fix, or to sell?

I have a 95 Sportster that I pulled the cylinders off and they need to be replaced, along with the pistons. I've been toying with the idea of putting the $300 into it and getting new pistons and having the cylinders honed out and putting it back together and selling it. I just need to get rid of the boat by summer, and don't feel like working in a cold garage to rebuild this engine, but at the same time I can't take such a huge loss if it's that big a deal. I guess what I'm looking for is, how much more would it be worth if it's running versus how it sits?

A '95 non-running in early winter? whats a paper-weight worth? Even if the boat was running perfectly its going to be a tough sell this time of year. The economy is still tough too. I say utilize the time to get the boat sorted and in early spring sell. You'll get a fair price for it then.

I was kind of afraid of that. I only got the boat a few months ago and have not had much time to do much with it. Now with an unexpected expense (car crapped out on me) I have no money to rebuild the engine with, so that's the reason for my post. Maybe I'll hope for new engine parts for the holiday season...
