Saw some seadoo thermostats for sale online... just wondering why anyone would spend $200 on this? I ride in the winter a lot, so I might benefit from one, but is it really necessary?
Hell no, I wouldn't drop $200 on a thermostat. I paid like...I dunno $60?...less?...can't remember now...bought a merc 160* thermo. It's keeping the motor cool and lessening heat fade that is the worry...not running in cool water.

My biggest worry is if the ECU has a setting at which it doesn't read knock below a certain coolant temp. On a supercharged engine that can be catastrophic failure waiting to happen. This has happened to me in the past on one of my project vehicles. Chunked 2 pistons before I figured out the computer wasn't reading knock below 162* and I was running a 160* thermostat. Now I'm not sure if our 4tecs have this but it's worth looking into before you start messing with your cooling system.
