Temperature sensor question

99 xp:

Had been running well all day then it wouldn't start, just kept getting one long beep when hitting the start button. I knew this was the overheat sensor, so I shut it down for the night, but the next morning the same thing happened - one long beep with no start.

Two beeps when lanyard is connected, so no problem there.

Advanced diagnostic test no problems: short beep, long beep, then no beep (just solenoid click) on first press of start button. After that long beeps start again.

I checked the 5 fuses in the MPEM and the one by the solenoid and they are are good.

I read another thread on how to boil the temp sensor, but I haven't tried that yet.

I disconnected the temp sensor and I still get the one long beep. So my questions are:

1) What is supposed to happen if the temp sensor is disconnected, is it supposed to have one long beep, or should the ski start?

2) If the answer to #1 is that the ski should start (which would indicate the problem is not the sensor), where should I look for the cause of the problem?

The tech at the Seadoo shop told me that it will still beep if the sensor is disconnected.

I put a new sensor in an still got the long beep, but then I disconnected the module with the temp sensor wires from the MPEM and reconnected it and the beep went away.
