Switching to premix question.

Just out of curiosity. Would the oil in the oil bath required for the rotary valve need to be API tc or would any two stroke oil work since your not actually firing the oil.
 
I suppose any oil would work, since all you are doing is lubricating the rotary valve gear. However since you are going to be using so little oil whats the point of changing?

The big question is why do you want to change to premix? The disadvantages far outweigh the advantages.

YES, it would. oil does get by the seals (fact) and gets burned in with the fuel mix.
 
Oh. I'm not planning on switching. I've just always had toys that used premix like my old dirt bikes and odyssey. The separate oil and gas is just new to me and was just curious about what people did when they switched and just haven't seen anything out there about the type of oil used for the rotary valve. Just a curious individual I guess.
