Supercharger question

Hi got my first 4tec ski, an 06 rxp.. Previous owner told me to let go of throttle while jumping large waves because when landing it can blow the clutch, is this true? Should i be that careful or will it happen overtime anyway? Thanks! (Ceramic washers replaced)

These larger and faster skis can get out of the water pretty well. The main reason to let go of the throttle is to prevent hitting max engine and Super charger RPMs.

They spin up so fast with no load on them. It literally takes like 2 seconds to be bouncing off the rev limiter.

I let off the throttle the moment I leave the wave and squeeze it as I'm landing. There is no hesitation or drag. It's like you never let go of the throttle.

If you're doing a lot of intentional wave jumping, be sure to start setting aside a repair fund you're going to need it. It's not real good for them and is rough on the supercharger components. These machines are a lot bigger and heavier than their 2-stroke predecessors and the supercharger is spinning far faster than the engine RPM's it won't like what you're doing to it.

How many hours are on this RXP and has the supercharger actually been rebuilt (not just the washers replaced)? If you're over 100 hrs on the orginal supercharger bearings and shaft and seals then it's well past time for the supercharger to be pulled out and FULLY rebuilt they are considered a "wear item". If the supercharger fails it falls apart INSIDE your engine case and small bearings and broken parts get all inside your engine where they tend to wreak havoc and can destroy the engine... you may not even realize your supercharger has failed initially, the engine may continue running for awhile with just a little loss of power and lower max rpm's, until some piece of the supercharger gets somewhere it shouldn't and breaks something. :-\
