Can anybody tell me if my 09 GTX 215 has the metal washers in the supercharger or the ceramic ones? My dealer is telling me they are ceramic but I heard different!

Thanks.

Dunno for sure, but like you I heard anything after 05(?) had the metal washers. But really, I don't know for sure - especially about the year.

My understanding is that after the 2007 model years they switched to Metal, but this could just be for the boats. Got my SC rebuild kits showing up tomorrow, hoping to have both of them rebuilt and back on water for the weekend! I do know that the skis experienced alot more ceramic washer problems as they can get "unhooked" alot easier than boats and cause RPM to jump and load on motor to drop.

I was told by Riva Motorsports that the skis came from the factory with metal washers starting in 2008.

2006 definitely came with ceramic washers... I replaced mine myself. The cermics felt like they were made of plastic when I held them in my hand, compared to the steel replacement washers. I've also read many times now that BRP changed to steel washers in the 2008 year model. If yours is REALLY a 2009 year model (and not a left-over from previous year(s)) then it should have steel supercharger washers.

The metal washers on 2008 Seadoos (and some early 09 models) also have the potential to break apart, similar to what happens to the ceramic version. It is much less likely to happen, but it has happened to numerous people. The bad metal washers are gold colored. The ones in the new rebuild kits are the ones you want. I have a whole page about supercharger washers at www.FizzleFactory.com/supercharger.html
