2003 GTI LE, my wife got a rock sucked up in the intake. I took it apart, got rock out, filed down the burrs on the impeller blades, put it back together and it dies under load when I try to get it up on plane. It actually gets up on plane and then dies right away, under 3/4-full power. It will sit at the dock and run fine, in neutral can give it throttle and runs. It ran perfect before this happened. Can the wear ring being bad make it so it will kill the motor? I thought it just wouldn’t have any power but would still run. Any/all help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Not great, but this is what I took before back together. Thoughts?

how's the backside look? that pic looks like it would work fine enough.
A compression check is always good reality check - no compression - no engine.
