start at the beginning..
my "old" battery (possibly original, was dragging a bit when i pressed the starter especially when hot so i decided to purchase a new Duracell Ultra 30LA AGM black Case Battery. it is about 5/8" less tall than the Yuasa battery so i made a rubber shim/filler to fill in the gap between the top of the battery and the bottom of the hold down. looks like it will work out ok.
ok... so back to the main story, after installing the new duracell battery, i took my RXT down to the launch ramp. it started right up but as i tried to back it off the trailer, it sounded very strange, like it was running on 2 cylinders, missing and puttering and could not get any higher RPM's.. i idled around a bit and put it back on the trailer. then pulled it out of the water for inspection. didn't see anything so put it back into the water. started RIGHT up and same thing, ran like crap, so bad that i didn't want to run it long cause it sounded scary. it might have smoked a bit..
so, we took my GTX out for an hour. put the trailer in the water and thought, what the heck, try the RXT again. it started right up and ran FINE.. as if nothing had happened. took it out for a 5 minute ride and with some wide open runs and everything seems OK..
any thoughts?? !!
