steering problem

Hi all, i have a 1995 seadoo spi which has a steering problem, it was steering fine until i did some figure 8's then something happened and the steering went very light, it will oversteer very easily, it can only be driven slowly with care, any sort of speed and it would be very dangerous, i have looked for something broken but can see nothing obvious, the only things that could be replaced are the steering cable and steering column bushes although they seem ok.

Has anyone had a similar problem?, or any advice pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

dont think it is the cable, have diconnected, moves freely and does not feel broken, what about the bushes in the column, heard of problems with them?
