Starts slow, eventually planes out

I have a '96 Challenger and when I first start it up and give it the gas, it cuts off. After the restart, I give it the gas again and it is slow to plane. If I go wide open from a dead stop, the engine sounds as if its getting too much gas (kind of like a tick tick tick noise). If I slowly accelerate then it takes 10 or so seconds to plane out. I have changed the wear ring and impeller within the last 3 weeks. Please help!!!!

No, but I will take a look at 'em this afternoon. Does it sound to you like maybe a fuel filter problem?

yup...along with a clogged excellerator pump and protruding fitting, inside carb.

What are you getting from a compresssion test? It should be idealy at 150 psi.
