i was riding my 99 spx and it was running great when after about 45min it died while going about 3/4 throttle and it was full of gas but died like it ran outa gas i thought the battery was dead b/c we had to put on the charger to get started weekend b4 so after ski died i bought a new battery and now it won't start, anyone have any ideas i dont want to pay the dealership for another repair

check fuses, clean the carbs, check/replace the fuel lines, replace o-ring in the inline filter, clean landyard/post with eraser...

it still had the grey fuel lines so i replaced all those and took carbs apart and cleaned the filters in carbs looked good but still cleaned, installed a new dess post about a month ago, but i will try cleaning lanyard and try the lanyard from other ski, programed the same, fuses are good, now im stumped, i am thinking it is something in the electrical sys but don't know where to start

Check compression. That sounds like a classic melted piston. Could be something else… but better to check.

I melted a piston in my 94 SPI last week... Going along great then just stopped...Looks like I had lean condition, but not 100% sure.. Only thing I never changed was the fuel selector switch!!! That will going when I get the piston changed... I lucked out with very little damage. Nothing a good honing won't fix..
