Just took the boat out of winter storage (battery was disconnected). When the DESS key is insterted, I get four beeps every few seconds indicating that the boat isn't in neutral (even though it is). The beeping disappears when the boat is started and th engine seems to run just fine. Wondered if anyone else has this problem (searched the forum - got a few hits, but nothing helpful). Since the boat starts up fine, it doesn't appear to be a major problem.

My 2006 Sportster SCIC does the same thing, 4 beeps.......I assumed that meant everything was hunky dorey, my boat starts immediately also.

I could be wrong so dont quote me on this but i thought 4 beeps when you push the start/stop button ment your shifter is not in neutral, 4 beeps at different interval ment you left the dess key pluged in to long,

on the fuel injected boats... 4 beeps (repeating) is a warning to let you know the lanyard is on the post. if you leave it on... it will run down your battery.

it's basically the same warning that your car gives if you leave the keys in the ignition, and open the door to get out.

DR HONDA is correct. The 4 beeps mean that the lanyard is plugged on the post but you didn't start the engine. Totally normal.

Thanks Guys,
As PhongRacing suggests, the owners manual (not the shop manual) indicates that 4 beeps = 'boat isn't in neutral'. But as I said, the boat IS in neutral and all seems well.

Funny that I thought that this was something new - I didn't notice it before. I haven't had the boat that long and I had my MPEM replaced at the end of last season, so maybe it is something programmed into the new MPEM (the replacement MPEM doesn't have the same model number as the original part). Nonetheless, all seems well.
