Experience with the Speedster 150 215HP

I am thinking about a Speedster 150 with a 215. Any recommendations. Is this a good boat or does it have lots of problems. I see they took away the 3 yr warranty down to 1. That makes me suspicious. Looking for personal exp. with this boat. Is the 155HP strong enough for wakeboarding?

i have a 2008 150 215 got it about 2 months ago and i LOVE IT no problems with the boat. now the dealer is something else all together.

pretty sure they added the $2000 gas card when they removed the free warranty upgrade, basically the same thing. The gas card is a debit card so you could probably use it to pay for an extended warranty if you wanted to. the gas card promotion ends tomorrow but I'm sure they will replace it with another promotion that's about the same.

check the online prices on the boats in you area I found a dealer 2hours from my house that were selling them for 16.2 and the dealer down the street from my house matched there price

I bought one a couple of months back. No major problems with it, but it has had a couple minor issues. First one is a coolant leak it had at the ride plate somewhere which was fixed under warranty, second one was the nut that holds the carraige bolt under the gauge cluster fell off, causing the assembly to loosen up and pull a couple of the phillps mounting screws out of the fiberglass which I fixed myself. Other "issue" if you want to call it that, is one of the rubber washers/bumpers on the pull down ladder that isolates the ladder from the bracket or whatever when retracted fell off the first time we used the ladder, now it rattles against the bracket. Have to find a way to fix that. Other than that, it has 17 hours on it so far and I am loving it :).

I will say that it is a bit of a rough rider on choppy days, so if you want cruising comfort, maybe look to the 200 or something. But for a fun thrashing boat, it is great!!

FYI, the gas card promo was extended for a couple more days. I just picked up my boat yesterday, it was a 2008 speedster 150 215hp for 16,350 OTD and I'll get the gas card in the mail so basically $14350 OTD.

Damn, that's a great deal!! Tax and all, huh?? Up here, there is no competition for our local guy and they don't budge off of MSRP :(. Ours was $20,384.50 out the door with tax, reg, trailer, dealer and "doc" fees and $50 for the spare key. They would not budge on ANYTHING- fees, price, etc.- hell, they wouldn't even throw in the key! I tried to get them to toss in a couple of life vests and all they did was offer me 15% off if I wanted to purchase them!! Sucks living in the boonies here :(.

I have a sportster with the 155hp witch is the same boat as the speedster 150. i choose the 155hp cause its less maintenance then the 215hp. every 100hr's the supercharger needs to be serviced by the dealer, i put alot of hrs on my boat think ive put 30hrs on it so far this season. and yes the one with 155hp has MORE then enough power to pull a wakeboarder i always wakeboard behind mine no problem, first time wakeboarding i got up first try.

Agree....

:agree: Must totally agree here.....with sporsterjoel. When you add more sub-systems to an engine, it becomes faster and fun but your adding a lot more to chance that something can happen. You can hit 70 mph without the supercharger, so it's a show toy at best that may cost you more in the long run........

What's it take to hit 70 in a 155 Speedster (or even a 215)? My SCIC is nowhere near that fast in stock form. Best GPS run was a max of 56.8, but average about 54. I was told on either version, an impeller/prop is only good for a couple mph at best and also that while there are a lot of upgrades even for the SCIC motor, they really don't add much overall. I'm certainly interested in knowing where to look to achieve the performance you mention- that'd be right up my alley :)! Thanks.
Joe

you got a supercharger, but is it the right one? i think this is what you were asking for.:driving:

here

70 mph for sure
