1. I recently bought a 2001 sea doo challenger 2000. The Speedometer is not working. I checked the voltage and as i spin the paddle wheel it will vary between 9.0 volts and 9.8 volts. Is this variation in voltage enough for the gauge (possibly a weak magnet) or is my gauge just bad? Can i buy an aftermarket guage or do I need OEM?

2. Also I have read about a beep when insterting my key? I never hear one.

3. Is there a sport mode or something?

To verify speed sensor, use a voltmeter as follows:
– Disconnect speed sensor from inside the bilge.
– Provide 12 Vdc to the sensor. Connect the (+)
wire to the PURPLE/YELLOW wire and connect
the negative (-) wire to the BLACK wire.
– Connect the voltmeter (+) probe to the BLUE/
PURPLE wire and the (-) probe to the BLACK wire.
– Slowly turn the paddle wheel. You should read
a voltage variation with the voltmeter.

That is how Sea doo says to check the sensor. I just noticed you have the merc engine though so it may be different. If you arent getting any beeps, it may need a new beeper.

I tried to find a beeper or anything that looks like a speaker or something that would beep but nothing. Is there no wiring diagram for this?
