There is a 97 SPX for sale near me for $1650. It has a rebuilt top end with only one hour on it, New ODI Rogue Grips, setup to run premix, all new fuel lines, and R & D intake grate. Oh and it has most likely been ridden in salt water. I'm wondering if this is a good buy. You all are the guru's and Im new to this hobby.

If you do end up buying it I'd do a break in on the top end for sure. Just to play it safe. But thats a fair price if it runs and has good compression.

Ok so after looking at it, I like what I see. The compression on both cyl's is 150. It started right up. The only other issue is the trailer does not have a title. Since some states dont issue one I will just say I bought it from Georgia. All that for $1200. Thanks for the help mustang. Oh one more thing. How am I suppose to break it in? The guy at the shop said varying RPM's for the next two tanks should do the trick.

Yeah you can do it that way.. Everyone's got there own method. If you ask 100 people you'll get 100 different answers to how to break it in. But varying rpm is common to all of them.
