took the carbs off, no big deal there,
rebuild is pretty straight forward, no drama....two broken screws in the spark arestor plate holder, machine shoped them.

i have the shop manual, but i would appreciate advise on setting the low and high speed needles from someone who already did it good.

Thanks

Pretty much what the manual says. 1-1/2 turn out on the low speed, and 0 on the high speed.

You can go up or down a 1/4 turn to lean or rich it if you need to on the low speed. I tend to go 1-1/4.

There's a school of thought that says you should run the magneto (front) cylinder's HSA at zero, and the PTO (rear) cylinder's HSA a bit richer at 1/4 to 1/2 turns open. The reasoning claims that the cylinders run at different temperatures. I've played around with this a bit and frankly can't tell a difference, but thought I'd pass it along.
