I just bought an 09 left over rxp215 and was wondering if the ceramic supercharger washers are still faulty in the 09 model like how they were in the pevious years? Should i worry about replacing them?

I also just bought a left over RXP 215, but a 08. I've been reading through these forums and have ran across a few posts where even the washers in the 08 even failed within 15 hrs. Now I'm really starting to get paranoid and I'm nearly afraid to even ride the thing now in fear that the supercharger is going to let loose and blow the motor or it will sink (carbon seal problem) or how about all the hoses that pop off? Deep in my mind I think I might of been much better off getting the new Yamaha VXR from a reliability stand point but I really liked the look/style of the 08 RXP and the Seadoo dealer is only 15 minutes away vs 2 hours for the Yamaha dealers.
I knew about the 100hr S/C rebuilds before buying it, I'm cool with that. What I'm not cool with is having to worry about some stupid washers give out within the first few hours of riding it when they where suppose to be fixed in this year. Something is telling me to get the Riva washers installed while it's at the shop for the 10hr maintenance.
Well good luck with your new 09, have any pics of it? Here's my brand new 08 left over....
The ceramic washers were done away with in 08 so you may want to verify that you have the new washers depending on production date etc. I just had mine done in my 06 RXT with 80 hrs and the ceramic washers were still fine but had it rebuilt since it will be due soon. From what I understand that most of these failures are from catching air and over reving the engine, not that it should come apart but riding style seems to be a factor.

Well where I ride on the river the water is like glass so I won't be catching much air unless I'm hitting wakes. When you catch air, should you ease off the throttle a little so that the RPM's stay about the same or is there no way around hurting your S/C clutch when catching air? Is there a definite build date of the 08's where the switch over was? Mine is a April 08 build (last four digits of the hin is D808 D would = April?).
I would bet you are ok with a build date of 4/8, sometimes build dates are the previous year like one of my 06 RXT has a build date late in 05. As the previous post states 08 and up.
