OK guys, here's a question. I'm thinking of buying a 1998 Sportster with twin 85hp's. One of the motors has only 10 hrs as it was just replaced. The boat seems mechanically sound and well taken care of. My question is: I have no idea how dependable these types of 2-stroke motors are. The fact that one of the motors is new worries me some, although it was 10 years old. There is no "hour" meter on this boat so I have no way of knowing usage. I've worked on several different kinds of marine and automobile motors as a hobby but never a 2 stroke. I've heard horror stories about lean cylinders, clogged oil filters, etc...
Can you make me feel a little better about buying this?
