hey guys
I have a 1995 GTX with a 657X motor and I need to replace the shaft that goes between the engine and the jet pump/drive. I have a 1996 GTI parts ski that has a different setup on the front bearing. it has a small clip that goes in the shaft to hold a collar. if I remove the clip and collar the shaft then the shaft looks the same except for the groove . Does anyone know if this has been done ?? Can I use this shaft with the Bearings and attachments from my 95 GTX on it ??? wanna go riding and need to know.... Thanks :)

Simply yes if they are the same.
Difference is the bearing type seal. Probably changed the following year.
Search Rampage thread on bearing seal.
You need more maintenance on bearing than carbon seal and won't blow out the bottom of ski :)

I forgot to mention I installed the impeller housing and wear ring the whole piece after the hull from the 1996 GTI rode it for bout 3 hours then the fron of my driveshaft stripped. do I need to put the 1995 GTX housing from the hull back or can I leave that one on there

if the WR is good I don't see a problem if its the same.
Your concern should be why it ate up the splines to the PTO.
Check your engine mounts or you installed driveline crooked. Did you use the alignment tool

the engine mounts are all good and my buddy installed the impeller wear ring and i think he did use an alignment tool..... is it recommended when you replace that big housing ( 4 large nuts holding it on) that you use an alignment tool to install it ???

No not really it just hangs there.
You shouldn't of eaten the splines though unless they were not that great.
The other factor could be bad bearing but swap to carbon seal on other ski for safety.

I got a shaft from a member on here cheap but I need to know is the little rubber bumper supposed to be on the engine side of shaft, pump side or both sides Please Respond ?????
