Shaft Guard Missing

Just pulled pump on port side of Challenger 230 SE. I noticed the shaft guard is missing. Is this a problem. Starboard has one. Never noticed before when I have been under the boat and I have no idea how long it has been gone.

Well it should be there. I would definitely get that back on.

If you are referring to the plastic sleeve that surrounds the shaft, it isn’t critical.

Many operate without them. Just spray the shaft with Fluid Film or something like that to help keep the metal in good condition.
