I know there has been some interest in SES rebuilds and their weak and strong points as a company.
I did some research prior to sending SES my motor but was primarily based on price and quality of work. I did find some reports about late deliveries and lost motors. I did speak with Tom the owner and at that point and he made me feel comfortable with how the timeline for the rebuild and shipping would transpire.
I sent out my 787 engine to him for my 96 GTX,http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?59056-96-GTX-Rescue
I will keep this post up to date so we all can monitor how the costumer service part of SES is performing, in regards to delivery, communications and warranty work if needed.
January 25/2013 Spoke with Tom about sending my motor to him, inquired about the free shipping, rebuild timeline, warranty, parts being used and the industry in general. He made me feel comfortable enough to decide to send motor to SES. Received free UPS ground shipping label that evening
January 28 Delivered motor to UPS store in Niagara Falls NY and got tracking
number.
January 31 Tracking showed motor was delivered at 1.47 pm
February 5 at 11.17 am, sent Tom an email to confirm that he has the motor and all is well.
February 5 11.48 am, received return email stating that engine was received no problems
February 14, sent email requesting status of rebuild and to confirm that I will be getting a tracking number when engine leaves the shop.
February 15, Tom Called me to say that the rebuild is on schedule and will be shipping out Friday February 22 that will be 3 weeks from when he received it, which is what he informed me in the beginning. We did confirm again that I will receive a tracking number for the return shipping.
February 21 Emailed Tom to check status for Delivery Feb 22 (Fri), informed me it should be Feb 25 (Mon)
February 25 Emailed and phoned 5.45 pm (left message) for the status of shipping, if it actually got shipped today.
February 25 6.35 pm Tom call back to say that he is waiting for shipping broker to pick up tonight and will send me tracking info later tonight.
February 25 Emailed shipping label and tracking number and said I should see it Thursday.
February 26 SES broker has not delivered motor to UPS as of 7.45pm
February 26 8.09 pm engine has been received by UPS and tracking number is active. This is 2 business days late.
February 28 Engine was delivered.
March 1 Call Tom about the injector nipples being painted over and discussed.
March 3 Tom called to make sure I installed the RV properly after I cleaned the inj nipples
