I know there has been some interest in SES rebuilds and their weak and strong points as a company.

I did some research prior to sending SES my motor but was primarily based on price and quality of work. I did find some reports about late deliveries and lost motors. I did speak with Tom the owner and at that point and he made me feel comfortable with how the timeline for the rebuild and shipping would transpire.

I sent out my 787 engine to him for my 96 GTX,http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?59056-96-GTX-Rescue

I will keep this post up to date so we all can monitor how the costumer service part of SES is performing, in regards to delivery, communications and warranty work if needed.

January 25/2013 Spoke with Tom about sending my motor to him, inquired about the free shipping, rebuild timeline, warranty, parts being used and the industry in general. He made me feel comfortable enough to decide to send motor to SES. Received free UPS ground shipping label that evening

January 28 Delivered motor to UPS store in Niagara Falls NY and got tracking
number.

January 31 Tracking showed motor was delivered at 1.47 pm

February 5 at 11.17 am, sent Tom an email to confirm that he has the motor and all is well.

February 5 11.48 am, received return email stating that engine was received no problems

February 14, sent email requesting status of rebuild and to confirm that I will be getting a tracking number when engine leaves the shop.

February 15, Tom Called me to say that the rebuild is on schedule and will be shipping out Friday February 22 that will be 3 weeks from when he received it, which is what he informed me in the beginning. We did confirm again that I will receive a tracking number for the return shipping.

February 21 Emailed Tom to check status for Delivery Feb 22 (Fri), informed me it should be Feb 25 (Mon)

February 25 Emailed and phoned 5.45 pm (left message) for the status of shipping, if it actually got shipped today.

February 25 6.35 pm Tom call back to say that he is waiting for shipping broker to pick up tonight and will send me tracking info later tonight.

February 25 Emailed shipping label and tracking number and said I should see it Thursday.

February 26 SES broker has not delivered motor to UPS as of 7.45pm

February 26 8.09 pm engine has been received by UPS and tracking number is active. This is 2 business days late.

February 28 Engine was delivered.

March 1 Call Tom about the injector nipples being painted over and discussed.

March 3 Tom called to make sure I installed the RV properly after I cleaned the inj nipples

Take some photos of the unboxing, and be sure to account for customs if its cross border.

Thanks for the tip, I will be picking it up at my US post office box, UPS kills me on brokerage.
I did take photos of the package and numbers on the engine before it left.

When I import a motor, and I have done a few, I just use the paypal receipt, show it to customs and go pay the taxes. Relatively painless.

Last time I shipped UPS gave me a hassle when insuring it for $800. They said they needed to package it. I said, so you plan to refund me for the last two I shipped?

Emailed Tom at SES today to see if he was still on schedule to ship my motor tomorrow (Friday Feb 22) which was our agreed upon date.

He replied within the hour and said that he did not think he could get it shipped by Friday more likely Monday would be the day he would get it out.

Again he assured me I would get a tracking number.

Glad to hear that SES is improving on communication. My experience with them has not been very positive. I shipped my engine in August last year. I was told it would take 6-8 weeks to turnaround. I have been waiting 6 months now. Tom called me with a tracking number last week. I checked the status on the UPS website and found my engine was being shipped to an address in California. I called Tom and he said that he put the wrong address on the label. He put in a request for return to sender. He called yesterday to say it would take UPS a few days to return it. Then he will ship it to me and call with a new tracking number.

That sucks.

You would have thought that after the bantering he got on the other thread, those type of mistakes would not happen anymore. All I can say is that, I hope his lack of focus on shipping is because he is so focussed on his motors. For his sake, I hope he improves on the shipping.

It is a good step forward by using ups and sending tracking numbers. We will see how he does with mine.

Ive spoke with him a few times this week he seemed pretty consistant on emails and voicemails. Hope to pull engine today and get it shipped off. I was told it would be in the shop for 3 weeks

You would have thought he would have triple checked things on something that is already been screwed up. He could have changed the shipping location so it didnt come back to him but its more expensive than returning to sender. Oh wait but not really b/c he will be on the hook for the 2nd shipping.

Alright kicker, I have been waiting on the sidelines on this because I did not want this thread to go the route of the other thread. So whats the word on the shipping, did it go out today? From your posts it looks like he is on top of the ball with communication too.

When I saw this last week, I was in shock that it could be messed up yet again, I double triple check everything I send and even if it is only $2 to ship, If I am going to spend $75 to ship a motor to a guy who was waiting 6 months I would make sure it was perfect.
Here is a link to ups where he could reroute it to you, Adam I know I pm'ed you the day you posted that with this link, so you could ask Tom just to do that so you would get it quicker, I figured it would be quicker and cheaper to do this, instead of the motor hitting cali then goin back to PA then Back to Washington. It does cost money to do that but so does the return to sender and then him shipping it out again.

Under frequently asked questions, the 3rd option.

This is probably too late now because it is on its way back to Tom, but when I pm'ed you may have been able to do that.
At least now people know this is an option, most do not know you can do this.

to sum up SES's shipping:

1 word) lol
2 words) good lord
3 words) good fawking lord

My neighbor smokes pot about 3 times a day, he is ALWAYS stoned, sometimes he drives to the grocery then comes home because he can't remember what he wanted,, why am I telling you this ?

Because i'd rather have my stoner neighbor be in charge of shipping instead of this clown.

seriously... he needs to go into politics, there's plenty of room for idiots in the Obama administration.

Let's stick to on-topic facts guys, please? :)

Ok, today is now the 25th, your expected receipt date.

Where is the engine? (this is 4 weeks, with shipping, correct?)

Well I just replied to current posts, also his original receipt date was the 22nd. His 2nd ship date given is today the 25th. Which technically it is only the next business day for UPS. All of these threads do get a little side tracked too sqrl, even you have done that once or twice.

I started this thread for future buyers looking for an engine shop much the same as the rodent did with his, I dont mind getting side tracked, its all good discussion. My first post will always be the summary of how it went and I will keep it current as progress goes ahead.

I left early this morning to take the family skiing (snow skiing, for you southern guys) and just got back. As of now I have not had any new info from Tom. I have sent Tom an email and left a message on his phone wonder what the status of shipping is.

If he sent it today it will be 1 business day late, if not today will be 2 business days late.

JSG, I was actually surprised you didnt subscribe earlier:lol:

Tom just called back to say he is waiting for the broker to pick up the motor tonight yet. He will be sending my tracking number tonight as well.

oh, that reminds me nick, to say thx for shipping me that steering cable.. to me... rather than CA... much appreciated sir :)

Broker? I was under the impression from some of the others members that he has resolved that problem by shipping with UPS. Make sure if you get a tracking number that the package was accepted and not just that the label was printed, you can print a shipping label at anytime and just mail the package at a later date.

As of yet still no verified tracking number. What time do most shipping companies close?

No worries. I'd rather talk walking dead. According to this show I need more rounds.

is there a thread on that ? i finally got talked into starting it by my daughter, so I did season 1,2,3 (up to episode 10) in 4 weeks, i was in zombie hell ! but I really got caught up in it.... pretty dam good, and this is coming from a guy that HATES zombies.

He ships through a broker via UPS. He get better pricing through his broker then he can get direct from UPS himself. The engine still gets delivered by UPS. Its an extra step that he says saves money.
