Seat strap replacements

As many of you may know, when you rewrap a seat you will always see the old strap marks/indention. I was wondering if anyone has found a replacement? I got to thinking what else those straps would be used for. Vinyl straps for patio furniture came to mind. So I did some searching and found a place that has all types of custom straps. They have many different colors and widths. Widths they have 5/8, 1", 1 1/2",and 2". They will cut it to any length up to 28" for $2 per strap. They say to order it 1/2" short because it will stretch for a nice tight fit. I am going to order the 5/8 and 1" and see how that works. The smaller widths are called vinyl lace and the larger two widths are vinyl straps. I just got the sample colors in today. I was seeing if anyone found something other than this to replace the originals. Plus it would be nice to get custom colors.


Here are the sample colors i ordered. These seem a little thicker than the stock ones but the do say when they stretch they thin out.

Do they feel like they will be just as strong as the original. I know when going 2 up you sometimes have to really haul on that strap to stay on.

Im sure if that strap is meant to hold my 200lb butt in a seat it should work for this. They feel like they would be strong enough. Honestly i never use them and most people use x4 with 1 person on them. I have a jettrim cover on a hump seat so I dont have a strap or need one.

I had a plastic trap like that on my old Si. BUT... then I got Keith to make one that looked like an OEM replacement. I'm sure they won't be as cheap... but they look much better. (better color match too)
