Seat foam looks like it has shrunk?

Has anyone else pulled their stock seat cover and found that the foam is too short for the seat pan? Mine is like lacking 4" or so.... And the seat strap location (indentation in the foam)
Does not line up with the strap bolt location if you put the foam where it is supposed to be
In the front. If I pull the foam to the rear, where it is flush with the back of the pan, the strap
Channel lines up with the holes, but then the front is way short. Is there a way to get it to stretch back, or am I going to have to splice in some foam from my parts gts? Any ideas?

I've seen a similar phenomena with motorcycle seats over the years...it's why long ago I quit trying to do this particular type of job myself and let upholstery shops handle it. I've had a couple of repairs where I asked the shop guys, "So...did you have to replace the foam?" and they responded, "No, no...it was all good." I would have SWORN they'd have had to replace the whole thing, lol! PWCs may be a bit different due to the harsher environment they operate in, of course.

I think the LA sun baked your's out. 4" is a lot to shrink. Hit up Minnetonka4me and see if he has one, just have him ship the foam, way cheaper then with the seat pan.

Try steaming the foam with a steam cleaner. I steamed my boat seat foam on a tip from my upholster, and the foam expanded back to full size in no time.

I'll have to give that a try! Also, where does everyone get their stainless steel staples? Tried harbor f.
And Home Depot with no luck, guess I can try tomorrow at a tool vendor.."

Home depot is where most of us get them. Find the staplers and you will find the staples.

Same ones I got for mine as above! T50, 3/8" and 10mm. Quick question (not to steal thread, but this may help the OP too).

Is there a decent procedure if part of your seat cover has ripped from the front? Staple holes ripped to the end of the cover on mine for about 4-6".

I used marine vinyl so I had a lot to work with. I have two and 3 rows of staples in it. This seat is wrapped like a strippers azz, so tight you could bounce a quarter off it.

much easier with air stapler and an extra pair of hands, but it can be done with a hand stapler, and solo, just not quite as simple.

I would buy the Monel staples from LOwes or Home Depot. They are easier to find and are actually for marine and salt. If you read the box of the stainless ones it specifically says not for marine use.

All I could find at home depot was galvanized...
Just gonna order some off the net....BTW, I steam
Cleaned my seat foam,(hot pressure washed anyway) and the damn thing grew from 44 1\4, to 47 1\2! Hope it don't shrink
Back!

will this staple gun have enough power for a xpl seat pan? they are very very hard plastic and i tried everything last year and had to take it to a upholstery shop. im wanting a different custom cover and for the price of the cover and that staple gun is about what i paid the shop to install my last one

I tested the hand stapler on my pan, and they sunk
Right in. Ordered staples from fastenal, so I'm using
The air stapler.
