Seat Cover Install

So I just ordered a new seat cover for a fresh look for my 97 GSX. I looked at the how to video on the SBT forum and it really looks like he is putting the new cover directly over the old one and stapling it down. Is that doable? My current seat isn't cracked, can I just put the new one straight over it? I read they glued the OE cover to the foam and it will need "shaved" off the foam and maybe a new layer of thin foam to cover any imperfections. But if the new cover can be slipped right over the old this will save a lot of work.
Suggestions? Tips? Comments? Please.

If you put the new cover over the old one... you will see all the cracks in the old vinyl. (the new cover won't be smooth) I recommend digging out all the old staples, and remove the old cover... then put the new cover on.

Well I put the new cover on today and it went pretty well and I'm happy overall with how it turned out. My fingers and thumbs are sore from all the pulling and stretching but big deal right!
Here is a pic. Only problem is that the right Blacktip logo is upside down for some odd reason, but I can live with it. The colors are custom picked by me to match the graphics and the black and gray are in their "carbon fiber" look material and the red is a non slip. I ordered them on Saturday last week and got the cover on Thursday! Incredible in my book!

I put it right over the old cover as the oem was glued or molded right to the foam and would of been a battle getting off w/o destroying the foam. You can see the one small crack of the oem seat cover through the black but it's barely noticeable. Really stands out in the picture but in person is barely visible.

Looks great !!!

Now... think about my fingers after doing an entire boat interior. It's not hard work.... but it is a "Work-out."

Hey man great work! It looks awesoms! I just attempted to put mine on (same seat and ski) and I'm having a really hard time getting it to not bubble where the seat arches down. Could you possibly let me know how you did yours and maybe a quick instruction? I would really appreciate it. Btw I love the carbon fiber look! It fits perfectly!
