Was out on the boat today and were having a great time until I got that horrible feeling.
I was confused at first but headed to sand bar put on my goggles reached underneath and pulled out hands of grass wrapped around shaft and in the grate..
Pulled everything out and away it went to 45+ mph w/2 adults, my niece and 4 year old son w/30 galllons of gas.
Felt real real heavy until I went through half the tank.
Got warning buzzer/light towards the end of day.
Was out ~5 hrs. Boy twins are thirsty...
:hurray:
So my question is there a screen or something I can put to keep the grass from going to impeller..That weedlsess grate system does not work

Thanks,,

Hope for a solution.. I didn't see any other seadoo owner pulled over pulling grass out of there every 10-20mins for a few times

nope... just don't drive over it. If you had a screen over the intake... it would restrict the intake water... an the suction would still draw grass in.

Sorry

Having had this problem a few times before, I am found it is an easy thing to just jump in and remove the weeds from the grate. My grate is close enough to the back that I don't even need to put on goggles - just reach in from the back and pull the crap out. Just make sure the engine is off :-) Even a single lilly pad was enough to cause cavitation.

Prevention works best in avoiding sucking up crap. It sucks (no pun intended) to have to watch what you are going over, but you get use to it. Thats the nature of the beast with no prop. I wouldnt trade it.

On the subject of fuel, yeah they are really thirsty. Earlier this summer I went through 30 gallons of gas in like 3 hours. Gets expensive quick.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm going to have to get a spotter and a friend with a gas station :biggrinjester:

Can't wait for next weekend although I'm so exhausted this morning.....

Ya - you have to watch and some places are like obstacle courses. On the other hand, I was in pond last weekend with a lot of boulders that were marked with buoys for the poor suckers with outboards. No problem for us though.
