Hi,

I am new to the site and really need help with a 2000 Seadoo XP.

The ski will not start, it just winds over, it gives the occasional kick or cough, but wont start.
It it like the timing is out or something.

It is a 2000 model XP (the twin coil version) and i have just put a used motor in it out of a 1998 model XP (single coil version). Being the twin coil ski, i changed the magnito cup in the front of the 1998 model engine to suit the electrics that i have in this ski. If this makes sense.

I believe that the magnito cup is fitted correctly, but i cant get it to start. It is getting plenty of spark, has 150psi compression and is getting fuel.

Is there something that i could have missed???

did you change the mag as well as the mag cup? timing is simple to check, just bring mag cyl to TDC and put a mark on the pto, black sharpie works well and use a DC timing light while cranking.

Hi,

When you say mag i take it you mean stator?

I have changed the stator and the mag cup in the front cover.

I have NOT change the flywheel ring gear or the pickup.

When i aligned the mag cup i aligned the long rectangle magnet to the LHS of the drill hole in the ring gear (hole is on the RHS of the long magnet)

Yes, stator.

Check timing, I think it's off. As I recall, the 98 ring gear hole and alignment procedure is different.
