Memorial weekend I was out and my Seadoo Speedster 150 starting making a click noise, which I thought was low on oil, it wasnt. Upon inspection I discovered this… My valve cover has lifted a bit near Cylinder 1. This was causing a little oil to escape and making the valves easier to hear, thus a louder than usual clicking. This caused me to halt operation and hobble back to dock and put her away.
If your facing looking toward Cylinder 1 this lift is on the top left corner of the valve cover.
I am at 5100 feet above seal level, compression in cylinder 1 was 95 pounds per square inch , cylinder 2 was 90 pounds per square inch cylinder 3 was 90 pounds per square inch… I used a tester from Chinese tool store so the lbs might be off, but the cylinders still seem close to uniform and compression with each other. I am hoping I didn’t damage anything horribly like the pistons and/or all of the head. My next step is to take the valve cover off and take a peek at the valve train…
Anyone have and comments and/or recommendations?
Thanks in advance, Hal in Colorado
