Hi took my seadoo rxt 215 2006 out today for the first time in 8 months after using for a bit I took seat off and realised a lot of smoke in engine bay let the smoke come out put seat on used again and no smoke since any ideas thank you

Was there any particular type of smell involved?

During the winterization process we hose the motors down with anti-corrosion coating, maybe if it was winterized this way minor remnants of preservative oil were gassing off the exhaust manifold?

The exhaust system handles a lot of heat, so if a fresh water cooling loop issue exists those parts can overheat and burn, especially the rubber exhaust hoses. Any component getting hot enough to burn to the touch could be indicative of cooling system problems.

In this case it makes sense of course to keep a close eye on things but if there was no particular odor involved it may have just been some steam from evaporating water.

You're doing the right thing to familiarize yourself with the craft.

There are all kinds of concerns that can create smoke including electrical, cooling, exhaust leaks (carbon monoxide is odorless and toxic) or harmless water vapor but if this continues you should look more deeply into the issue for further clues. Any fluids besides maybe a cup or two of clear water detected in the depths of the bilge may be cause for concern so remember to keep an eye out for signs of these.
