I have a 1996 seadoo gti and i just started it for the first time this year. It starts up instantly but after about a minute of idling, it started to get very loud and rev on it own. Someone told me it was the carburetor but i just want to get another opinion. And if it is the carburetor then can i just spray in some carburetor cleaner in it?

Im having the same issue and a mechanic told me it was my needles and seats. I am buying the parts next week while on vacation and Ill get them on after I get back. Ill keep you updated.

It could be a few things... but I wouldn't get too worried about it yet. Since it's the first run of the year... put it in the water (So there is a load on the engine) and it may clear up. Also... the engine won't "Run-away" when there is a load on it.

If it doesn't clear up after a ride... it's going to be time for a carb rebuild.

thanks for the help guys, im going to the take it to the water tomorow morning and just do as dr honda suggested. If that doesnt work then ill have to rebuild the carb.
