Hey guys,

So just getting pre season stuff. While getting new oil filter asked about jet pump oil which I thought was the xps gear oil, or any 75w - 90 would work. The sales guy grabbed me a small bottle saying to use it. I questioned it, but he states that it has additives to prevent condensation.

Is this true, or did I just get screwed.

Oh and the little bottle $20.99 plus tax. Wow.

Its an absolute rip off. Go to Canadian Tire and get a 1 litre bottle of 75/90 Royal Purple full synthetic for $11.99.

Yup it is a joke, idk if tht little bottle is even enough to do a change. The parts store bottles you can probably get 3 or 4 oil changes out of it

URG... thx... I hate when they guilt you into crap like that. I have dealt with the guy many times before to. Soon as someone says condensation/water and if your pump blows up, don't blame him. It says it is suppose to do 3 changes. No idea how since my last 1 liter bottle has done 3 or maybe 4, but very little left.

The Royal Purple is at $24.99, where did you see it for $11.99

But have any of you guys heard about the EXTRA additive they add? Or that just Horse Crap?!?

I am not an oil expert, but the last time I checked all oil even vegetable oil repels water

They're not guilting you into it, they are "selling" it to you. Personally I use it, just because I bought a bunch of it years back for $8.43 each (NOT A TYPO) and haven't gone through all of it yet. LOL Just look on Ebay for stuff and when you see a deal you have to pounce on it, I'm sure at some point some guy will be cleaning out his garage and put a few bottles up for cheap, it's called inventory, buy in advance, stock up, whatever you want to call it. You can buy it on Ebay right now for $15.99 shipped free.

If you guys want, here are the MSDS for all the BRP fluids, then all you need to do is get a comparable oil(the same ingredients/percentages etc...), it's actually pretty easy. As a matter of fact Redline is the one that makes the oil for BRP, and I bet if you look at Redlines 75/90 MSDS it the same as BRP's but probably a different color. It's all out there.

And if you look close enough the little bottle is good for approximately 3 changes.

I thought Castrol made the BRP oil, maybe that was the original mineral oil?

marine grade gear oil, is superior for marine applications.

the marine gear oil I run in my lower unit, can be displaced by up to 50% water and still maintain proper lubrication.

Cars are generally not subject to being under water.

So, while it's more $, it is the correct product.

I've seen the OEM oil last years and years from people simply not knowing to change it.

While the 75/90 stuff, I have to change every year without a doubt, as it's usually black or foamy from water getting in...

Hmm thx Sabrtooth, maybe I'll use it and just change it every 2 years to save some costs and labour time. Guess I will just keep it and see how much it does.

Ok, so buy the Lucas 75/90 marine gear oil in the quart for $16.99. Good for 8-10 changes. BTW...even the seadoo oil is black and nasty after a season and if you mix some water in there, I bet it foams as well.

By luck that is the exact oil I used in my pump this season. I run the same oil in my C5Z06 diff. Nice.

That was the injection oil, not the pump oil. And even now it looks as if they have changed the MSDS that it does not call out Castrol anymore or the company who manufactures the Seadoo Lube anti corrosion spray.

Damn man that's an awesome price. Harder for me and more expensive up here in Can.

Yep, if you look at the price tag it says 6 99. I bought a bunch in August of 99' and am still working through it, LOL.

So this is bs.. Doesn't completely fill 2 jet pumps.
Oh and the other bottle of gear oil 75w 90 I have xps says on it for seadoos. Crazy
