My 95 xp 720 is having an issue where If i punch the throttle it hits the rev limiter and then picks up speed, I think it is either my impeller or wear ring, my friend has a 14/19 skat track impeller and my question is will that impeller help low end or high end? Thx!

Most common causes are a bad wear ring, or damaged impeller. That pitch sounds like it's about right. Skat Traks are known for their good hookup in rough water. I'm not sure what impeller pitch yours came with stock, but there is a chart out there. Google Seadoo Impeller Reference and you should find it. Since it's a 95, you likely have the older style carrier bearing seal. Make sure you're putting grease in there regularly and not letting it dry up. If you had the dreaded carbon seal, I'd say you could possibly be sucking air through it and causing your cavitation. But you should be fine on that front. If your wear ring and impeller are good, make sure your neoprene pump seal is good. I like to keep a few on hand, they're pretty cheap.

It depends on which series Skat Trak impeller that is. They recommend different pitches for the Swirl and Slim Line series.

And yeah it's the carrier bearing seal, and do I need a neoprene seal when there's a pump extension? When I pulled it off the first time there wasnt one there, thx!

I think there should still be a seal between the hull and the extension. I believe I installed one on my 95. I don't think it will hurt.

I’m pretty sure there is a neoprene seal between the pump extension and the hull. It’s been a while since I’ve had the pump off of my 95... The 14/19 is a little lower pitch than what they recommend for the 720 XP. Maybe Matt will pop in and give you some insight.

A 14/19 is not for the 720. It would yank your arms off but top out at 44ish of your 52mph potential. The 16/21 swirl is the sweet spot for 720 power, that's what the sport spec HX racers use. As mentioned the straight edge impellers have different pitch #'s then the swirls though.

Thx so much!

So I pulled off my pump, and the wear ring looks fine, and the impeller looks fine yet I'm cavitating really bad, do you guys think my issue is the broken ring of plastic on the top of wear ring?

Just personal experience but I have seen an odd number of 95 XP's that made it out of the factory with ride shoes that were not properly sealed to the hull. They all showed the same signs you are descrbing. Pulling and resealing the ride shoe is something I suggest most people do if they are fighting a ghost low end/hole shot problem. It is not difficult to do but is a couple hour job. I would suggest doing this before you put money into a new impeller. As Mac has said, sea-doo did a good job of matching the impeller to the machine from the factory and you are not going to gain much or anything by playing with other units.

Pull your existing impeller and clean up that bent leading edge and tune up any blunt edges. Make sure the liner is still good, make sure the thru hull seal for the drive shaft is good and not leaking air.

Ok I will look into the ride shoe, but do I have to pull it off or can I just put silicone around it? And I'm going to get a new wear ring because I need to change pump oil anyway so might as well see if it fixes it.
