I've tried to start and it makes two beeps when lantern is placed in and then four short beeps repeatedly. I cant get it to turnover at all. Ski has sat for over year in weather. Hull still has water in it. Please tell me what to do. I;m frustrated already yesterday started and its been all day. Now new day, I am reaching out for some suggestions please. I'm new at this as you can tell. Thank you

Pull the gray plastic cover off the back of the engine, remove the spark plugs and see if you can turn the engine over by hand using the rear flywheel under the cover.

We took the spark plugs out and hit the start and it turned over with gas and oil flying out of the spark plug holes all over us. ( Ha Ha) Then put the spark plugs back i and nothing again four beeps and clunking noise. This is frustrating. Do you have any ideas what it could be? We replaced the whole jet pump, new battery, new plugs.

I suspect one of the reasons Miki advised you to take the cover off and turn it by hand is because if you can't then you'll know that something is really locked up. You should be able to turn it by hand with the plugs out. The starter has far more power than your hand and isn't a good test.

Did you install the driveshaft in the pump and then slide the whole assembly into the PTO flywheel, or did you install the driveshaft into the PTO and then install the pump onto the shaft? If the latter you may have the driveshaft sitting in the impeller blade area rather than in the hole where the splines are. You could look up through the intake grate from underneath to confirm. Or, your engine internals may be seizing.

You need to clear the engine of all the oil and liquid that is in there BEFORE the starter will be able to turn the engine over with the spark plugs in place. A small amount of liquid will lock the engine. Work on that... keep the battery hot, don't run the starter for more than a few seconds at a time. Get that liquid out of there.
