I am thinking of buying a seadoo challenger 1997 2 stroke single engine 110hp.

The current owner and i took it out today and it worked great.
When we were coming back in he turned off the boat and removed the cap key.
A few minutes later he put back the key. We heard the beeps but when he tried to start the engine all we heard were clicks coming from the engine compartment.

he claims that it was a water level sensor and that all we needed to do is push the reset button and it would work perfectly.
He claims that because we only went out for 10 minutes, and the fact that he removed the button key, the boat wont start because it senses that the water level is not high enough.
Unfortunately he claimed that his brother knew where the reset button was and he did not and therefore the engine would not start.
We put it on the trailer and took it back to his place and about a half hour later still the same thing. Boat wont start, just clicks.
The boat was not in gear. This was not the issue.
Can anyone help me??????

Sounds to me the guy is giving you a line. There is no "Water level sensor". The clicking you heard was the solenoid. Either you have a bad battery, charging system or battery cable connection issue.

What about the speedometer. It wasnt working when we first went out on the water and after ten minutes of driving it still didnt work. He told me that it works after the boat warms up for a while.

Don't buy from this guy!....He's a "working car salesman", good quip there Craig.....

No, there is something probably wrong in the charging system. He's trying to play you off as being dumb.

There is a water sensor, for the bilge pump but it has nothing to do with the engine starting or stopping.

Yeah, unless your planning on spending some more money when you buy this thing from him, then walk away from it. Then, how about tell the guy to come in the forum and read your thread!...........I could tell him a thing or two. Oh, and this comes from a man who OWNS and WORKS on the 1997 Challenger!...............

Thank you everyone for your input. I think i am going to pass on this boat and look at another.

Thanks again everyone.
