Hi everyone,... I've just stumbled across your forum today while 'googling' some seadoo parts.
Looks like I'm gonna need all the help I can get, you see, I'm really an old worn-out biker and recently my young son has been begging me to try a Jetski for weekends out together. I bought a broken down 951 injection from a local advertiser knowing there would be a bit of work to do to it. The crank was bust, along with a piston and a very small crack on the bottom casing. All these have been fixed now,.. crank been renewed from jetski centre, piston replaced and crank-case tig welded. It's just about ready to install back into the hull but there's one major problem,... it was already dismantled from the jetski before I bought it and just looking at all the wires / water tubes etc is concerning me. No problem if it was a big bike, or a car engine, but this looks scary. I'm sure once I offer up the engine all will become clear ?,.. just wish me luck !
Any hints or suggestions are greatly recieved, especially the linking up of the engine to the impeller.
Hopefully within the next few weeks I will have it up and running and dipping my feet into that freezing cold North sea !!!
Anything to keep my son happy,....

Jonny

Welcome.

If you become a premium member... you can down load a manual for it... and it will have diagrams of all the hoses, and wires.

If you are a competent mechanic... then take your time, and you can line up the drive shaft "By feel." (I do it all the time) but I don't recommend doing that for your first time. If you get it too far out, you will break it, while running, or... you will wear the splines out of the PTO end of the engine. The best thing to do is to buy or rent an alignment tool. SBT will rent you one. It will wind up costing about $50 with shipping. OR... you can buy one (for $150) and then sell it when you are done. I personally own a tool, but I only use it if there was a known alignment issue, or if someone brings me a ski to work on, and the shims are all missing.

Oh, and good luck

Thanks for the welcome bud,..
I've already downloaded a good looking manual, read it and seemed easy enough.
Yes, I'm considering myself as 'competent',.. having worked with bike engines for years, also built an old drag car many years ago, but my brain worked a bit faster and sharper in those days. At least I know where to come now if I need some help with any hurdles I most likely will come across..
Bye the way,.... I just read your post on replacing the wear -ring,... easy to follow and well documented,.. perfect !

Be back soon,

Jonny (Scotland )
